machete

but what is the cost? Idk of very many knifes other then mora's which come quite sharp enough for me, even the expesnive ones. Meh if you use a knife its gonna eventually lose that sharp edge so I think learning to sharpen it back up is a must.

And for those who do have a problem with sharpening them up there happens to be a source for fully sharpened convexed ones. :D

Not much extra. It's not so much about it being sharp out of the box (though that's handy) as much as the extremely coarse and uneven (often deformed) grind being thinned, evened out, and convexed. Maintenance is much easier for folks, especially for novices, to maintain an edge that came in good shape than it is to completely rework the grind. I get those puppies so they'll cut feather sticks with ease. If you can do it yourself then getting a regular one cheaper elsewhere may be worth it. If you don't have the time, skill, or desire to do it yourself, however, the ones I carry can be good options. :)

As far as being sharp enough for ya', I finish them on a 15 micron belt. :D

I had a great old GI one but my brother in law "borrowed" so I bought a Gerber and it is a piece of junk. I got a woodmans pal for Christmas and I have to say it is great for what I need. If I was in a jungle I would get another machete, but I am the hills of PA.

Machetes ROCK !!! They are inexpensive enough that you can get one & modify it for your particular needs. With just a few simple mods it can become a multi-purpose muti-function tool.

It is now worthy of it's very own custom sheath !

I was talking about the sanmai3 cs kukri's which seem to run some place in the 600 dollar range. those are way too much for me right now. Those are the only stock cs kukri's which come sharpened that I know of. At that price, I'd be scared to use it for anything but zombie hacking.

I never knew you sold sharpened blades. true, I always do suggest that if you can't sharpen yourself just send it out for sharpening. the cost of going all the way up to a 15 micron belt, well that's just a deal if you can just pay someone.

Either way, which one did you go with?

Yeah I hear ya' on that one. I'm surprised that they sell enough of those to keep them in production. That's an awful lot of money to drop on a kukri, especially when you compare them to the cost of getting a genuine article. For zombie chopping you could get a nice sword for that money.
