Machetes!!!

I like that one just cause it's so crazy wide. Your average person when they think of "machete" thinks of your basic, 18'' Latin pattern("the one like Jason uses in Friday the 13th!")...show em something like the burriquito, and they're in awe, lol.

cannot wait to use it for some heavy chopping too, I know a few people who will be awed by it too haha

None of mine are exceptionally rare, but I have quite a few\
aranyik emailed me back and said 75 for the k-1 but I don't have that kind of money right now and he said it's a 6 week wait, eventually I guess anyways nice collection

$75? Huh, price has gone up a bit. And yeah, he's been working on an order of 30 of them recently so he's got a backlog, though 6 weeks is pretty wild...most of my orders usually take a couple of weeks to ship, hadn't had any go 6 weeks yet.

One thing to keep in mind, Aranyik in the US is basically 1 dude. The blades are hand made by a handful of blacksmiths in Thailand(who also make and sell blades for local purchase), sent to him in Hawaii where he sharpens them and crafts the handle, then ships them out himself, so they do sometimes take a little time to get orders filled. That also unfortunately means if he runs out of a certain blade style, he's not always certain when he can get more in. Great stuff though, once you do acquire some at least, heh.

yeah $75 shipped which I'd gladly pay if I could but it's tight

Yeah I know what you mean, sometimes you just gotta put some stuff on the back burner till the situation changes. I got some money to spend this week, and I had originally planned to get the Condor Parang as well as the Hudson Bay knife, but due to an additional expenditure coming up, the Hudson Bay is gonna have to wait.

I'm actually going to buy the grade b hudson bay on baryonyx hopefully tmrw alongside the burriquito ironically haha, I mainly want the sheath for my BK9 and my friend's gonna use the hudson bay

Haha, what happens if you get the Hudson and after seeing it...don't wanna give it up, lol. I've heard nothing but good things about it...

I currently only own the Condor Golok machete and absolutely love it! No work is really required on the handle for it to swing comfortably and safely. Pretty damn tough too.

Definitely going to investigate other machetes as time goes on.

My favorite at the time is the Cold Steel Jungle Machete that I stripped the finish from. My rarest machete is an Iraqi Khayyat that I got from - yup - Iraq.

So I ordered an 18'' pata de cuche, 14'' burriquito, the hudson bay and a 14'' tram for my friend cause he loves mine and we found some trails that need clearing on a 19 mile hike and I'm ready to upsize my machete skill honing on my 18'' :)

touche! I want that dundee bowie too
well, these WERE a lLatin machete. but now they are bowies lol

I accumulate machetes because I was looking for what I feel most comfortable using, primarily chopping things like limbs and small trees. I don't know if people would call the Pack Golok or Kabar Cutlass machete "machetes" but they are of the same family. My current favorite is the Condor Golok. But I find that I grab the Pack Golok more often now.

my favorite machete i have is one i built out of a 6" wide 16" log and 3/16" thick piece of bar stock my gramps had lying around. dont know what type of metal, weighs a TON but my mentor at the time tempered it and it is pretty much indestructible.

gramps still has it, when i was younger we would use it as a target for .22s and the musket haha, but is hacked branches like a champ

I'd call them machete-like choppers but not "purebred" machetes as it were. They exhibit many of the qualities of machetes, but with a few significant deviations from the standard. :)

Here's my JEST School jungle machete. From the Philipines. Cost me $2 while attending the school in the Maine Corps. One of my dogs got ahold of the sheath at some point. Has a caribou(sp?) horn handle that has always had a couple cracks in it. Not sure if there's anything to do about that. It's riveted on. Must be 1/4" at the handle and thinner as you get to the tip.
