Machetes

It is because I think that is better have in diagonal like a sword with the other attached metod It seems to be a little so vertical.

But I will try it too....

That is why I get the sheath with 3 rings in order to have more than one carry options.....

Thanks

You know, I haven't thought about a machete for a while now. This older fella I used to hunt with in Nova Scotia had a 15" one or something, thats all he took, aside from a swiss army knife. Just tucked it in his belt and we were off.

If you have some machete pics, post it.....

Thank you

my own

its sharpened to shaving sharp , it was a REAL pain to get a good edge on initialy , but keeping the edge now is a breeze .

Does firewood , goat fodder , clearing reeds n brush kind of regular . This pic was taken early on in its life :)

This is one I sent to my bro , I spent ages giving it a more convex edge , I LOVE the way that particular knife cuts , it was hard to part with , but for a good cause , he wanted one and I was out of them ... so he got mine .

These are 20 inch blades , but thin , thinner than most I have handled , and light , realy light considering their size . I wrapped the handle of mine in string to make it that bit easier on my huge hands , I have others who use them that didnt need to wrap them at all , they just smoothed off the rough factory dags and its good to go .

Im impressed with the strength of the blade , and the way these things sever . still a new toy to me , had my first 18 inch one months back , but sold it , now I have this one , its great , got a bunch of 24 inch machetes coming hopefully soonish , they will be fun to play with :)

dang....myal....your Okapi pic (the first one)...is AWESOME.

It sure brings back the memories of being out in the jungle deep in Central America.

I once removed 400 square feet of sod with an 18" machete...was much younger then...:D....(foolish too)

But you can't beat the versatility of even a basic machete.

I get requests now and then to make one...but I can't bring myself to do it...not when good ones can be had for under $20...! (can't do a sheath for that much).

Back then the machete cost about 2 USD....custom leather sheath around $3....why didn't I get 10? :(

Great thread and pics by all.

Love the shelter pic!

Here my brother Ricardo and I were in a little ATV trip where we had to do some branches cleanning ..... and my brother is using his machete ....
