Machine Satin Finish?

I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to knifemaking and was wondering what you guys use to give your blades a "machine satin finish". Is there a particular kind of buffing wheel and compound combination you guys use? Getting the bevels and the flats an even tone all around. Is there any compounds out there that are NOOB proof as far as blending the blade to one consistent color? Thank you in advance!

If you want bevels and flats to "match" up.a hand rubbed finish is a good choice!finishing at the same grit on entire blade.machine satin is quicker and can be achieved using scotchbright belts.i personally like to take my flats up to 600 grit on machine and leave bevels at 400,then hit with cork belt.gives a nice contrast.
