Machined My Own Leather Stamp

What kind of CNC machine you have? I use a HAAS and mastercam X4. X4 is pretty nice to use once the basics are learned.

Hellgap, as per your request here is your stamp...

Thanks for your order.

Montana guy,
I have a Syil X4 CNC mill. It really a cnc bench mill. I wish I could have a Hass in my shop, man that would be sweet. Just not sure how to get 10+ tonne machine into my shop without the wife seeing:)

I just started machining, as this is my first mill last Dec. I am using Meshcam and my Cadd program is Corel. I know...Corel! I will be learning Solid Works in the near future.

Greetings,
I will venture down the steel stamp in a couple weeks.

I will post my stamp once I get the tooling ordered.

Thanks,
Dennis

Just to clarify my possibly ambiguous request for a "steel stamp", I meant a stamp for stamping steel, not a leather stamp constructed of steel. Thanks!

Greetings,
I made this leather stamp on my CNC mill last night. I think it turned out alright, since I am still learning machining and coding.

It is 1.2" long by 0.95" wide.

Thoughts.

Dennis, I am a fairly new knifemaker who has made less than a hundred knives but more than seventy to date. I etch my blades with my last name in Black Chancery font from Microsoft Word. I do not make my sheaths but buy them and form, stamp, and dye them to compliment the knives I make. I would like my name on the sheaths as well.

I have seen your stamp and I think it is great! Would you consider making a simple one for me that says "Lehman Custom Knives" with an oval around it like yours? Larry Lehman, Bakersfield, Ca www.lehmancustomknives.com

I would love to have a CNC. If I ever get back into folder, I will probably spring for one.

I just can't justify the the price for blades though. I can grind a Drop Point hunter in under a minute now days. (If I'm in a real hurry.) Even if I take my time, it takes under 4 minutes. Heck. I can't clamp a blank on a mill table that fast. Much less have it ready for heat treat that fast.

Love the Stamp!

I know some of the software can be expensive, but keep in mind that EMC2 is free, versatile and open source.

modeling software need not be as expensive as autocad, solidworks, 3dsmax either. those are all great applications, but there are alternatives. i'm still looking into any open source modeling software which might support generation of g-code, OpenSBP, etc.
