machinery skates???

Hey Nick, mind if I borrow your skates? We have a retro disco night up here and i need something ssspecial! hahaha

Man, do I hear that!

Worse still, I'm one of the guys with wimpy arms!

Nicky, a fab shop friend of mine suggested I mention placing anchored I-beams in strategic locations to allow for chainfalls or winches in the shop. I don't know the dimensions of your new place, but considering the amount of gear you have it seems like that may be a good consideration...

If your ceilings are high enough, and you can find some I beams on the cheap, a bridge crane would be the ultimate in flexibility.

I can also bring up a machinery moving steel pry bar w/wheels... It has around 4,000# capacity.....

WHen I needed to move a new to me 2000lb welding table I made 4 of these skates. I made them specific to the size of the welding tables leg. The one other time I used them and I wanted to put them under a flat bottom large piece of equipment I just placed a 2x4 block on top of skate so the bearings would not rub bottom of tool.

PS The rod is so I could steer it with a piece of pipe if needed.

No help here. I would if I was still closer. Just want to say I am glad Nick is getting his own shop area and happy to see he is getting some help. Very good guy wheserves it.
Best of Luck with the place and the Lady Nick

Looking at those home made rollers, it occurs to me I have everything in my garage needed to build those... except a proper torch/welder and the bearings. I have some 1" thick round stock ( of the sort I used for the throat/bolser of the raven knife), and .25" thick flat stock (used originally as earthquake braces for 2000# racks of computer equipment).
