So now that it looks like there may be trouble in the future for the importation of AOs, I have decided that its time to look into getting some ive had my eye on, but I need some feedback on which you all think I sould get first. Im looking at the benchmade nitrous stryker, crkt m4, crkt natural, crkt horus and scarab, benchmade barrageand and crkt badger. Also if there are any aos out there that people like that I didnt mention....I may have them but still....dont hesitate to give some suggestions....if there's a real possibility of restrictions I want to collect some before theyre gone.

out of your list the nitrous stryker is definately the one to get.

I also suggest the zt301, the zt350 and the kershaw s30v blur if you MUST have an a/o

honestly though, the nitrous stryker and the zt301 are the only ones I think are worth owning.

I would recommend kershaw but they're not imported so the change shouldn't theoretically hurt them right since they don't have to pass through customs? :D Congrats for USA craftsmanship.

Yeah im not sure...does it apply to crossing state lines or not....thats a good question....anywho yeah I agree Ive been keeping an eye on the blur and some of the zt knives

DHS does NOT regulate interstate commerce, so in threoy the ruling shouldn't be a problem. the only issue is that many states may use the importation codes as their 'law' pertaining to such knives.

I'm glad my fascination with AOs died a few years ago. Now I dont have to be worried about loosing ammo and AO knives.

My impression was that only A/O knives being imported were at risk?
Most if not all (someone correct me if I am mistaken) of Kershaw and Benchmade's A/O knives are made right here in the US.
So I would focus on the CRKT's you wanted to get.

Kershaw has the best line up for sure. The Customs proposed ban can and will affect interstate commerce of US made AOs, since they will be deemed switchbaldes and the manufactoruers will have to use the same selling procedures they use for autos or risk committing a federal felony. They went after Sal from Syderco within the last two years for this on butterfly knives, so I beleive once (or if) this ruling is allowed to stand, the federal enforcement will embrace this new interpertation and send warning letters to all........

Look at what Buck said on this and all his AOs are US made:

The famous chain store closeout of the frn Native. Bought all they had for 19.95 each. Best knife bargain I've ever found. Also, the Buck 110.

Edited: Oops, somehow this post wound up on the wrong thread. Sorry.

Tom, while you know I appreciate your views on the legal portion of our industry, let's not get ahead of ourselves with regards to the proposal in front of us. It is too soon in this process to make statements like yours above. What we have before us is a proposal, that's where we are at...The knife community has not even began a dialog addressing the proposal. I don't think doom and gloom crystal ball opinions are productive here.

Now is the time to encourage everyone to get involved and voice their opinion to the appropriate people. AKTI and KnifeRights.org will both put out information on who to contact in the near future.

Together, with one strong voice, good things will happen.

Instead of panicking in a fashion similar to the current guns/ammunition scare, might I suggest that you also send AKTI a few hard earned bucks and contact the appropriate people regarding your objections to the proposed changes in Customs policy?

worst case scenerio they will be the same knives un assisted. i can live with that.

I have a couple of AO's in my collection. I'd like to add a Kershaw Framelock Scallion. I love the liner lock Scallion.
