Mad Dog = Bad Dog!

I have encountered several knife purveyors who had the policy of selling one type of knife, or offering some type of discount to "active duty military" only. A large percentage of troops in Afghanistan and Iraq are reservists. Most didn't have three to six months notice before being activated and deployed. These troops had no opportunity to order and receive one of these "special" knives because they were gone before the knife could be made and sent.

Reservists (National Guard and Reserves) have been integrated into the military on an equal basis for over ten years. Let's stop making them second class citizens. Reservists lost the "red" ID card years ago, replaced with the green ID card similar to the active duty one. It is time we treated reservists with the respect and dignity they deserve and "sell them a dang knife!"

If a knife maker won't honor my "green" National Guard ID card, I will take my knife business elsewhere! ...and I think I can make my feelings about this issue very well known amongst the troops I know!

I think the real reason this looks like trolling is that Mad Dog doesn't have a presence here, no forum, not much comment on his knives. There were flame wars once ... :D

So bringing up anything about him is like, from out of the blue. Who cares?

Yep,he is locked in the caves for being a bad dog.

His line is highly over priced and his quality is lack luster at best.

I don't get it. Every so often, these double-digit posters start a zillion-page character assassination against Kevin McClung. (boring!)

IF you don't like him or his knives... DON'T BUY THEM!

Now, on to important things.... who has a Gerber S30V Freeman and do you like it? :)

If anyone is really interested, use the search function. That should provide you with enough meaty conspiracy theories/flame wars/threats to chew on for a good while. If some (who have been around a while) on BF sound jaded & don't like to see this brought up, it's because *It's been discussed before* & every time it resurfaces, nothing good ever comes of it.

Damn straight! Here's a simple rule of thumb - if you are fighting, you are at the pinnacle of military service.

I am technically active duty - what a joke! There's no way I would ever take an active duty discount until I get to the real army.

Troll. If you want one that badly, get a CCW. (Are you old enough?)
Cops might want to use one undercover, that's just one reason.
McClung is just a man, and he only makes a knife... both have their good and bad points :) I've owned two of his knives, the quality was impeccable. A little pricey for stock removal, but no more than some others charge. His handles are unique and one of the best, in my opinion. I currently own an Arizona Hunter. I'll own a Panther again someday.
I've read all the old threads and made my decision despite them. I don't idolize or demonize the man.

Guys, we have a kiddie pool over at TFC for this sort of nonsense.

Blain, ever talk with the guy for a while and see where his priority may be? It ain't you. He and I are really good friends and some days it ain't me.

It's the guy who is doing that thing to the bad men out there which gives you and me the space to run our mouths intead of living in a cave with no television.

It's the guy who is actively disarming a bomb in a subway station.

It's the guy who may have that Operator as his only way out if things go south while he is trying to sting someone selling Claymore mines to the highest bidder.

You want a cool toy like a ceramic knife? I hear boker and kyocera make one for you. Since you are not LEO or CCW, whatcha want this for anyway? Whose detector you wanna scam?

And I see Mr Big Daddy has 4 posts, two of them on the front page of this forum, and those were both anti-dog. That's cool, again, TFC has a kiddie pool if you want to run your bad self out in the light instead of under a rock (figuratively - no disrespect to the BFC regulars/ majors.)

Cougar, thanks for the info on the moron trying to convert fixed to folders and sell em under a bad name. Never heard that before, amusing in its way.

Again we see you as the sock puppet for Kevin. Why don't you go back to tacticalforums and look up how he is being sued for not delivering a product after being paid for it?Why do you go over there and read the countless people that use to work for him that never got paid?Go over there and read about his network administrator that never got paid.Ask Mick STrider if he is welcome in his home?Ask Gabe Suarez if they are having Tea with him next month?

While your at it why don't you check into all those great ideas he has about saving the world one product at a time like cheap belts and holsters that he never sold.

Ohh yeah and lets not forget that he know tons more about building rifle stocks that GAle MCMillian.

Go use the search function in the kiddie pool how bout it.

I boycott him because I can't afford his knives, and because he wears fur, and because, the manufacture of his handles increase the greenhouse effect. :D

Do you like lumber companies?

Just a troll with a boner for MD. Why come here to criticize? Go to Tactical Forums and take him on face to face. (or computer to computer) or email him personally with your grievance.

If it was up to me, I'd lock these old dead threads and make the trolls make their own points in their own words instead of piggy-backing.

That´s the way to do it!! :D
ALIass

Speaking of facts, whatever happened to the defective/stolen-from-his-shop/ knife that was xrayed ? That pretty much clinched it for me. (I hope I'm talking about the same guy, if not my mistake.)

Do you mind elaborating on these two issues?

Use the search Function over at TF.It seems that Mad Dog has had run ins with many well respected people in the tactical community.

Those names are just a few.The list is quite long.Recently he has been going after such respected knife makers and knife fighters as Mick Strider,Ernie Emerson and Steve Tarani .At times calling them crooks and snake oil salesmen.

There is a thread running over on TF right now about the Kermabit and Mick Strider..

I did, found nothing. Do you have a specific link? If you don't want to post it here, just shoot me an email. Thanks!

But I'll check out that kerambit thread.

Just go to the Mad Dog Knives forum and click on the "Any further commentary on kerambits or whatever thread".
