Mad for Micarta Picture Thread

Thanks! It's 5/32" AEB-L at 60HRC, 9" overall, 4 7/16" tip to scales. Black canvas micarta with a white G10 liner, red micarta pins and a copper lanyard tube.
Made by YOU..!...👍👍👍... Damn fine work👌

Probably gonna need one In OD green canvas....😉...

lol it looks blue. Did u make it?
Sorry - not the best lighting in my shop. It was definitely listed as black canvas micarta. It looks kind of gray in your hand because of the layers of light and dark. I guess I need to break out the flash gear for some "real" photos. Yes - I made it. I still have a long way go to but I'm really enjoying the new hobby.

I just received a 36"x1.5"x0.93" bar of magnacut and one of magnamax. I haven't decided what I want to make from them yet. Maybe I'll look into some OD green micarta for one. :)

Worx for me.😉

A lot of micarta will look a lighter shade than what it is; it's especially pronounced in the black colors. Current Composite started using dyed phenolics and dyed fabric material to make Micarta more even color wise; it's sometimes listed as "double black" on some suppliers sites. The finer you finish it, the darker it becomes, but some Micartas will stay greyish or show grey layers and black. Oiling it helps darken the layers, too.

They ALL LOOK GOOD.....😉....

Yeah, I saw some stuff from Boker in the late 1990s that was black, but was 2 tone with grey and black and it looked really nice! I used black Micarta to get that effect, but it was always black! Turns out, the local place I was getting it from was one of Current's customers...lol. Other places started dying the phenolic and prepreg too.

Fun Fact, Current Composite was the first one to introduce dyes into the G10 material. I believe they made some Brown G10 for a military contract and had extra, so they sold some to Alpha Knife Supply and people loved a different color of G10 instead of the Jade/ghost/Natural G10!

Im really fascinated by that green river style knife on top. When I saw it I thought bark river mountain man, but the patina on the blade and scales is throwing me off. Can you tell me about the knife?
Its an older mountain man 5.5"...... Such a great and versatile blade....Luv it......Have the modern version 5.5" in Magnacut as well......Just fantastic knives to CUT with...👌
