MADD MAXX Dagger proto is done

Darrel, that is one great looking knife!! (I mean it) Now you've got me wanting one

Hey Darrel,
Ya going to make any of the smaller ones up in that dagger style? If so........... Still loving the clip point but that dagger blade is truly awesome.
Anyone out there on the fence about getting one needs to get off and get your order in! These are some more folders. Big, tough, and heavy duty, but light and perfectly balanced in your hand. I have never held as big a knife that felt this well balanced!
Darrel, you are a master at your trade!

So Darrel tells me that the knife in the picture is my knife and it is on it's way to me now.

Eat your your hearts out guys.

Mine arrived today! I must say, this is an absolutely beautiful knife. As of yet, I have not had the opertunity to use it as much as I would like, but the action is SOOO smooth, it is a pleasure to use.

The looks are exceptional. I had the handle anodized to a blue/purple with a hint of gold. Let me say again, this is a beautiful knife.

The MADD MAXX is far lighter than you would expect for such a large knife. You can hardly tell you are carrying it.

The only thing I am having trouble with is that the lock-up is so secure that it is hard to unlock the blade. It seems that this is something that will improve as time goes on, because I have only opened and closed it about a dozen times and it seems to be getting easier already.

After I have had this marvelous knife for a little longer I will update you on my further thoughts on ease of use and durability.

One other thing that I would like to point out is that through this whole transaction Darrel was a joy to work with. He kept me updated on the progress that was being made. He told me when the knife would be shipped and shipped it that exact day.

This is my first custom knife and it has been wonderful that everything went so smoothly. I would highly recommend Darrel to anyone looking for a custom knife.

Enough for now, catch you on the flip side.
(By the way, I notice this is my 1000th post, I never would have guessed that it would have come so soon.)

Keith.

DDR!! What can I say that hasn't been said before but:

wowowowowowowowowowowowowo!

Any chance of changing??? Please, please, please?

Keith,
Great news! Glad your MM arrived. Ain't it the truth about it being so well balanced in the hand! Don't fear those of you who ordered the bowie style blade, it is awesome also! Just trust me on this one.

Just wanted to let you guys know that the MADD MAXX came razor sharp. I have been doing a few tests and it shaves arm hair. cuts tissue paper and shaves tiny pieces of news paper without ever ripping the tissue or the news paper.
The flippers work beautifully for opening this knife. With only a few minutes practice I can get this knife open faster than any other knife I own.
The finish on this knife is as close to flawless as I have seen. The grind lines are perfect and the polish on the blade is great.
The fact that the lockup is really secure, making it a little tough to release is actually a good thing. It means that it will stay open when you need it to. I have no doubts as to the strength of this framelock and feel it will stand up to anything that I will ever put it through.
As you can tell, I love this knife. Now Darrel, tell me more about this seven inch version. I am thinking that my next knife from you will probably be an Apogee, but you never know.

Keith.

The 7 inch is a special run in honor of PHILIP GIBBS!
It will be called the GIBBS!
Phil is an Design engineer at Camillus who has to carry the biggest folder he can get!
He likes the MM so I decided to build this size in his honor.

Wow! All the superlatives have been used already, and yet they seem a bit inadequate. What a terrific, baaaaad looking knife.

Can't help having the feeling that some wannabe BGs, suddenly confronted with that would turn into little dribblesh*ts, and take their business elsewhere. Oh to be a fly on a wall . . .

Fantastic,

DDR - did you see my humble request???

Mine will be here Monday. I could have had it by now but I messed up the address when I gave it to Darrel. What an idiot I am! Oh well, I consoled myself today by renting the original Mad Max movie and immersing myself in silly car chases, bad dialogue and cool hotrods. Mel sure looked young back then!

At last DDR has spoke!

And he said "this week".

Or maybe the next...

And then the long journey to Israel...

Just wanted to update my experiences with the lock on the Madd Maxx. It seems thar as time goes by I am having less and less problems with the lock sticking. As a matter of fact, it has not stuck in about three days, at all. This , of course, makes me very happy, since I did not want to have to send it back for adjustments.

The more I use this knife the more I like it. It is very large, but has such a great balance and is so light weight, that it feels just right in the hand.

DDR MM Dagger Proto #2 now resides at Chez Baker. It is scary sharp on the main edge as well as the first 1/2" of the trailing edge. The action is superb and the lock-up is drum tight. Keith, it is never a problem closing a knife after its intended use. The problem comes when it does not lock up tight enough in the open position to save one's fingers in emergency use. I would have no problem at all owning a large defensive knife that required a hand tool to close after it had successfully completed its mission. Darrel, You have outdone yourself! I will post pix soon.I can hardly wait til it's big brother, the Gibbs version is completed!
