and so the sickness continues............

excellent choice, enjoy it!

My decision making was the opposite when i bought my first tweener--the 15 was first and the 17 was the close second.

Thanks! I think the extra handles sold me really. Was kinda a nice change from the norm.

I'm a drop point guy, but the 17 has always called to me. I'd say you did alright.

The BK17 was my first tweener model. I just wish I cut off the top strap instead of the bottom strap.

Ever since I got my BK17 I've wanted to do a custom of it. Strip and patina the blade, and get some scales that cover the lanyard hole on the end, look like ivory, and held in place by brass pins. Unfortunately I don't have the slightest clue how to go about doing that.

All I've done to learn is read these forums n watch YouTube. Between those 2 sources u can learn anything!

Great choice. Hope you enjoy it. As far as I'm concerned, the mid-sized fixed blades are THE most useful of all. I have a BK-16 and like it.

Love what u did w/ ur 17! VERY nice!

Mine has now been stripped

Thanks! It is my favorite knife in the mid-size range. Your's is looking good!

Wrong! Between those two sources you can learn some stuff, but real experience and knowledge comes from days of hard use and real world knife tasks. ;)

Maybe I should rephrase....... Between those 2 sources you can have a good foundation to start with. YES, practice is the only way to get better. However, my 1st attempt at making g10 handles for my barrage580 turned out really good! Guess i'm just the exception to the rule, or a ninja. Will get back to ya on my findings after I purchase a couple throwing stars and a hood.

Seriously, If you wanna learn. Practice after watching the experts, submit results on here and ask for feedback. You'd be suprised how many people want to help you get better!

Exactly!

Sorry, I don't know any (or at least many) "experts" here. Everyone seems to just like knives and Beckers in particular.

I went with the BK15 initially, but the 17 is by far my favorite. I think because its likeness to the air force survival knife. It's a good all around size to tackle just about any small task. Sure you wont be able to process a lot of wood with it, but that is what a hatchet is.
