you may have noticed alot of threads from me lately, i think i have three or four on the first few pages, but i am on spring break so i have had a good amount of time on my hands. so, the other day i was thumbing through the SAS survival guide and i saw a couple of diagrams of the fish basket. so, having alot of time on my hands, i figured i would give it a go. i wasnt really sure how it was going to turn out, as it involved a few skills that i had never practiced before, but i figured things out well enough to make a fishing basket. it isnt any prize for looks, but , well i think, it would be usable.
for those of you that havent seen or read about a fish basket, the basic idea is, the fish swim in, but dont understand how to get out. so, it is basically just a trap for fish. i think i remember DOC CANADA posting a picture of one that he made, and his was a much better example, but here is my take on it.
i made it of entirely of sticks and roots, no man-made materials were used. the main thing i learned about in this project is the versatility of roots. i used them to tie up everthing, and i also wound some up into wreath shapes to use as loops for the basic frame of the trap.
this is the only tool i used in the process, just a small puukko that my grandpa made.
anyway, thanks for looking,
