Paw-in-law wanted a knife in between the size of a Buck 102 and 119 so I figured I'd surprise him this x-mas with this, pictured next to a 102 for scale...

Full tang 1095, stainless guard and bolster, black ash burl

These will have to do, I don't have a light box and was taking them last night.
I'll have to wait until this afternoon to get some good daylight shots.

KNife looks great except for one thing. The guard is a little bit bulky. Could stand some thinning and contouring, especially near the bottom. Sure is a lot nicer than that Yuck, I mean Buck!:D

HMMMMMMMMMMM im trying to decide if i would rather have the knife or the fish.

Good job on the knife!! and the Marlin ( its a blue isnt it ?)

Yep definitely a blue marlin...~250 lbs. I have had the hardest time deciding what the guard should look like, so I more or less settled. I don't have time to re-do the whole thing before Christmas and was scared I would ruin it by taking off too much or something. I'd love to see some pictures or drawings of what you guys think would look good for the guard.

It Beats the Buck hands down!!!
I agree that the guard is a little heavy looking. But that's my opinion.
Your Father in law should be happy.

Damn that's nice. Great job!!!

Looks great Justin. Reminds me of my Buck 110, without the cheap lead bolster and guard. The father-in-law should be happy with it. Nice job.

BTW, I was living in Summerville when Hugo hit. I bet it has changed a lot since then.
