• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

I gave the last one to my Sis-inlaw
last night / yesterday I got the urge to make another , I kinda missed the little one I gave away .

so this is the little beastie I came up with .

I tested the edge holding ability by slicing up some tin can then making curlies on a lump of wood , kind of mock up of opening a can of beans to heat then carving some shreds for tinder to make a fire go ... assuming one was being amateurish in a survival situation :)

the handle is she-oak ( from the firewood pile ) the blade steel is just another hunk of all hard high speed steel power hack saw blade .

Im happy the knife is comfy in the hand and has pretty good edge retention :)

actually , Im hooked on this steel ...

I have been toying with the idea of making them to sell .
maybe oneday Ill be a real knife maker :)

for now , I just mess around in the back yard with an angle grinder .

if I ever found a belt grinder in my area in my price range tho ... hell yeah :)

Myal, that looks amazingly like a "Deweese Hunting Knife" like that designed by Dall Deweese and marketed by Marble's decades ago! It was a very useful hunting and camping knife. Looks like great minds think alike! You have a winner there, pard!

its pretty close .

It has to be that the marbles knife was designed by someone who had serious hands on hunting and mess round in the bush :)

At least , thats why I went for the shape I did anyway .

Thanks siguy
I got your little knife a few days ago , nice work yourself :)

Sears sells a 2 X 42 belt grinder, and you can get "real" belts from supergrit.com....
Nice knife !

What a great, useful little knife! Some talented folks making some great field blades on here.

Nice knife !

I dont have Sears local that I know of , and shipping from the US can be a real killer at times .

Ill get on oneday tho , its a "gunnawunday" thing that is higher on my list of gunnas than most . I got a bit put aside for it even :)

It slices like a lazer , I was expecting it to be good , but this steel takes the kinda edge that gets really scary .

Sweet! Reminds me of a trade knife. I love those.
