"Made in Nepal" and serial numbers are history.

The last shipment of khukuris reflected pretty much what we wanted as far as blade marking goes. HI logo was the only thing on the blade. The little sticker did the trick.

I like it better and I hope everybody does but I'll bet there's somebody out there who would like to see the numbers and Made in Nepal. But, they seem to be a minority and we life in a majority rules world.

Khukuri FAQ

I like the HI logo in devanagari myself Kaka. Coincidentally, the devanagari script seems to be very similar to Hindi script. My Hindi is a little rusty as far as reading and writing now that I have'nt used it in almost 12 years, but I was able to read the logo fine with no problems. That's something I definitely like. It does'nt make any difference for me as far as the Made in Nepal and the serial numbers go on whether they are there or not. Ever since I got my first khukuri, to me all that matters is that it is marked with the HI logo in devanagari and that tells me it's geniune and it's an excellent blade. As Mohd would say, "Nepal HO"

Hi, Uncle, I love to see HI logo on the blade. But a friend from India told me acronym are rarely used with devanagali because, I don't know this is only for Hindi or also Nepali, a vowel and a consonant are consolidated into a character that won't make as simple acronym as in English. The logo on the blade is "hi ee" if he was right.
Now I come to feel like to have a full "Himalayan Import ( hi-ma-la-ya-n i-m-po-r-t )" logo on the blade. Is it possible or do you like it if possible?

Oh, I'm thinking of next HI khukuri!

Mizutani,

My wife had made the same comment about the initials on my khukuri blades too after she saw them. I had'nt taken the time to look at them closely on the iniitials at the time but when I did, I figured they did that because to make it pronounce as HI, they would have to make it two different words in devanagari as opposed to two different letters. I would like to hear Kaka Bill's comments also on whether they would be able to have the full Himalayan Import logo on the blades.

I wish I had the ability to create an example of the letters in Hindi on here but since I dont, I would'nt be able to show an example of how it would be.. If anyone knows about a converter into Hindi for Internet Explorer, I would like to know about that.

Arvind

You are all absolutely correct. The HI would come out as hee eee. We could put the entire name on but I think it might be too long and cumbersome. Too much marking on the blade is not good. Do you think we should change to English and just put H. I. in English?

Khukuri FAQ

I personally prefer the HI logo in Devanageri. It makes the khukuri seem more special and authentic to me.

I agree with Big Bob. The English "H.I." would detract from the mystique of the khuks, I think.

Good job Uncle Bill! Last I checked I owned no less than a half dozen serial numbers so that those in the government and private sectors can keep tabs on me! The idea of having a beautiful, one of a kind really, HI product with a cheesy "made in Nepal" and a serial number makes me ill.
Always a pleasure,
Sutcliffe

What concerned me was the discrepancy how to call "HI" between kamis and us. I used to respect its original name most, and this is why I do not call Uncle Bill "Bill-ojichan."

But as Uncle Bill, one of the founders of HI set the logo and feels good with it, nothing bothers me any longer.

Thanks for the comments!

The one's I have are beautys. I have quite a few and the two serial # ones make my H.I. collection special.

Thank you, Jay. Not everybody liked the serial numbers as you can see. I found them advantageous in that you could pinpoint a particular khukuri by SN. And, it gave me a time reference as to when they were made. Sort of handy for me but if people don't want them then we can kiss them goodbye.

Just HI logo is good enough for me.

Also, check my best friend's beer website!
