Made in USA simple sharpener

Assembled means made abroad and put together in the USA?
Yes indeed.
Some companies buy parts 'over-sea' to cut expenses or to make more profit. Then they aseemble those parts in the USA to get a final product.
I suspect some of them just buy assembled products (over-sea assembling is much cheaper) and say they are assembled in the USA.

My first thought was a Sharpmaker but it really isn’t compact. No idea other than a stone and the OP doesn’t really want one.

So.... guided knife sharpening system for field use....and 100% made in the USA.
What's the verdict?
How about just guided knife sharpening system (any model) ... is there at least one made 100% in the USA?

Doesn't seem like it unfortunately! I think "assembled" in the USA is the best I'm going to get.

I just found something that'd be good for ya. It's called the Work Sharp Benchtop Angle Set Knife Sharpener WSBCHAGS. Looks like a nice little setup that you could carry around in your car and sharpen wherever you're setup. Looks like they go for 50 bucks. It's kind of like a Sharpmaker, but maybe a little smaller. It has 3 different grits, all ceramic I believe, and also has a small serration rod that folds out.

Guided and portable are a hard combination. The best one I can think of right now is the ERU: The Edge Renewal Utility. It's a pull through design, but it is ADJUSTABLE and has very precise manufacturing. Our own blade forums member Fred Rowe designed and built them. I do not think they are available as a new product any more, but you might be able to find one on the forums or eBay or something.

Otherwise, I'd say you either want just a stone, which will be nice and compact, OR you want a real guided system like a sharp maker that is not exactly compact, but is a very good system. There are smaller V and triangle type systems, but I don't know of any that are USA made. The ERU might be your Unicorn. If you can find one! :)

Brian.
