So I had some left over d2 from other knives I'm making. I have been seeing more and more of these pop up lately, so I figured what the heck. I know absolutely nothing about these style knives. So please criticize and critique me. Dimensions are .187" thick, 6.75" long and 1.875" cutting edge. This was a fun and stupid simple project that I did at work in about 1.5 hours. I'm not trying to sell it or anything, just want some feedback on how it turned out. Mods if this is in the wrong area my appoligies. Thanks for looking!

I've been doing metal fabrication for 5 yrs now. Its only recently I've tried to make knives. I really like finding something I like and try to replicate it with my own twit on it.

looks good!

only thing that I can tell that looks a tad off is the grind but hey its your first and looks really good!

I really like a nice cord wrapped kiridashi as well :D

edit: forgot to ask how it was heat treated?

I thought about increasing the grind so its not so steep, but I'm happy with it. And chances are I'd royally mess it up if i went back to the grinder. Just my luck :) ill continue to tweek the design, thanks for the input guys!

Heat treatment still needs to be done, I'm also making 11 other blades (2 designs) and I'm going to send them all at once. I use metalex out of berthoud colorado. These guys do all of spydercos blades for them and I've had great success in my first knife I made about 6 months ago. I'm hoping for 60-61 rc. As I see it, ill leave the most critical part to the pro's until I learn.

jestab that looks really good, I may have to try and grab one when you start selling em.

Thanks man I appreciate it, I don't plan on selling through BF for a while. I'm learning new things daily here, and trying to perfect them. Right now I'm just hooking up friends. (The non knife nuts) who like the designs, but don't notice flaws like use knife nuts do:) practice.. practice..practice! But believe me, I will make it someday and sell to you great guys and gals on here.

I like it, reminds me of Fred Perrin's "street scalpel", the name of which has always made me wince.

Kiridashi don't have a plunge line on their grind, makes it easier to lay the flat bevel on the stone for sharpening. There is a hollow on the flat side of the chisel grind on a traditional Kiridashi to make it easier to hone the flat side too.

Thanks for the info! I cut out 2 more blanks, i won't put the plunge in these two. Thanks man

Plunge cut these all you want to. It looks great, and it's different. Just put a secondary bevel either on the grind side, or the flat side, and you're gonna be sharp. easy to sharpen, and customer friendly too.

Tradition....psssss
