Made my own Tweener: Mission Complete

Wow bush-haus, really impressive work. If you hadn't said it, I doubt anyone would've guessed it was your first go at it.

That's something to be proud of for sure.

great knives, guys. I like the blade profiles on both of those better than the actual drop point tweener! I've got 4-5 burned out files that can be repurposed... if all it takes is some sandpaper, elbow grease and a professional heat treat job, I just might try it!

The sandpaper was for the handle scales. I used another file to profile the steel. It was a lot of elbow grease for sure, but the outcome was satisfactory for my standards.:D The heat treat was at 1550 degrees then tempered twice at 375 for an hour. It is strong enough that a file won't even grab it now. Skips right over it.

That's the sign of a good HT... also how Schatt & Morgan test their File and Wire slipjoints.
I think it was quite satisfactory to everyone's standards, you even got our resident knifesmith's approval.
You made a sheath for it yet?

My brother will be making a sheath for me as he is learning leather work. His first project was for his BK2 and it turned out AWESOME! If interested, I will update this thread when the whole system is complete.

Nice work! Looks like a bushlorish tweener. I'm working on a similar file knife myself. it's been fun, but after this one I'm gonna leave the knife making to mr. Becker and kabar.

PayetteRucker, plenty of knife makers here in Boise. I'm sure someone would be willing to heat treat for you. I've got a gallon of left over peanut oil for the quench if you need it!
