Great work John, Maggie is cute, they're a handful at that age eh!

Great stuff buddy,it's nice to see some video's instead of just pics !!!

John, i thought that the fig 4 method was interesting, i've never seen it done with a point on the vertical stick, only a wide sort of flat head screwdriver tip.

i put this in the comments section on youtube, but i'll put it here anyways...
if you make the top stick longer, so that the upright is out from underneath the weight, there is no way for the weight to get hung up on the upright, and everything will simply be launched out from under the stone when the trigger is sprung.

good point Simon... I find if I point the top stick it makes the trigger a little more sensitive. I've never had a problem with the figure 4 hanging up...my paiutes are another story however... LOL

thanks for the great comments guys...Hopefully they will be getting better in terms of quality, and in terms of presenting more useful material as we progress..if there is anything specific you'd like to see or if you have any feedback positive or negative let me know, although I can sight the negatives my self if you like..hmm poor film quality. unscripted presentation, thrown together projects..and the devastatingly good looking presenter makes it difficult for anyone to pay attention to anything else...LOL

Great vids John! Sorry all tose flagstones are cluttering up your yard. Let me know if you need me to come get rid of them for you :D

Great videos.
Glad to see Maggie with ya'll. I have a daughter that age and I know if I want to do anything without my wife, Alizabeth has got to be with me. It just starts her off young. As my uncle says "Off the streats and into the creaks"

By the way, we don't get to hear too many of those NYC accents here in Texas :)

Just a tip- With a tarp that large you have plenty of room to use a portion of it as a ground cloth. A survival shelter needs to be small to keep your body heat in. It uses less stakes too. :)

Run two pieces of paracord from the trees. One a ridge line, one as low as you can get it (on the ground).

Put the tarp under the ground line, then over the rideline. Connect the two corners, pull tight, and stake out. If you did it correctly you made a triangle.

Looks like this (from the opening):

t fin,

that's how I usually do it..the guy who was shooting however wanted to do it his way..since its his camera and stuff I obliged...I'll be showing other configurations that I use with a poncho later...Personally I don't use a tarp..a poncho to me serves double duty.. and is thereby more efficient Thanks for the info though.
