Off Topic Made the Cover of T......

Speaking of stocking rates I was talking to a rancher in NM a few weeks back. Their stocking rate is a pair (cow/calf) per about 400 acres. Thats why some ranches in the west are so huge.
Yep, several years ago when we were traveling Mom says something along the lines of "those cows would starve to death walking from blade of grass to next blade". We got down around the Texas Bend Big country and Dads says "we fought the indians for this land?" It surely does look barren. Saw them burning spines off cactus so cattle could eat the cactus. A totally different world than back home in NW Alabama.

Yeah its jsut different different places I guess. Got a friend in AR with knee high green grass year round seems like and he's feeding hay year round too. Quien sabe?
