While in Phoenix on vacation I made two trips to knife shops in the Phoenix Area. The First being Monkeys Edge in Mesa. Very cool but inventory only catered to the high end tactical buyers. Very cool striders and a large selection of Sebenzas. Good service and my brother bought a Kershaw Cryo. The next trip I made was to Penchetta Pen and Knife in Scottsdale. Knife shops are always a little pricier than what you find on the web and this held true for both shops. Penchetta had a large inventory of Benchmades, Microtechs, Spydercos, and lower end but still high quality stuff like CRKT and what not. Though I am not into pens some of those were cool. Couldn't get myself to pull the trigger on a OD mini grip but bought an Opinel #7 Carbon blade. Very nice people and experiences in both shops. Happy to be back home though.:)

Monkey Edge is not a knife shop. They are a gaming, role-play, fantasy vendor with two or three small display cases of knives. Chris Reeve and Strider dominating them. I think I spent less than 10mins in there. Whereas, fully about one half of Penchetta is devoted solely to knives. You could probably spend hours in there if you have varied tastes! The owner is an imposing man, with a booming voice; but, there is some balance by the presence of his petite daughter who is all smiles and quite helpful.

I agree in full. Penchetta has an awesome selection if your willing to pay the slight extra price to support a small knife shop. Awesome service to.
