  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Mag Lite Wraps

I use a light duty glue gun to improve grip on my mags. I used to use lacky bands but I got bored one day after doing some work in the kitchen needing glue gun and maglite.

I also used duct tape. I have one mini-mag that's had the same duct tape wrap on it for 17+ years. So I know it lasts. It never got slimy. If you use a thick enough wrap, it has enough give you can bite down on it, for an extremely low-budget hands free solution. (Worked well enough at the time.... except for the drool issue. :))

Nowadays I'd probably go with the inner tube.

I use heavy duty 3m electrical tape on the back end of my mini-mag to give a "bite zone" drool everywhere, but it works. and I replace the tape every six months or so, meh, then I know its fresh.

I did an AA with some of that foam stuff for building fishing rod handles. It was a bit bulky but is sanded down really easily. I think it was on that for about five years or so. I can't remember why I cut it off now.

Go to a local hardware store and get a can of tool handle no-slip grip dip. Dip in the light and let it dry, then cut around where it comes open at the head and butt. Handle grip comes in a variety of colors, and if/when it shows signs of wear, dip it again.

I've used bicycle handlebar tape on tripod legs. No reason it wouldn't work well on a flashlight. It's grippy and and insulates.
