Most of us have a discarded Maglite gathereing dust.....here is my old AA model...

funny you mention that, cause a week or so ago i was looking at on old angle head mil flashlight of mine thinking it could be a good minikit container (clip on/waterproof, etc...) was also thinking "hmmm maybe one of my old mini Mags too...

never got around to it, now you've inspired me if i make the time.

could you describe what you have done to yours? never saw a Mini-Mag look like that! thanks...

This was an AA maglite to start off with.
I wanted a cap that screwed over the cylinder and not into it, so I decided to use what was the lens holder as the cap.
I flattened the sides a little to accomodate the "bale".
I cut the lens holder off, but it could be retained and a compass installed.
The other end could be plugged any way you wish.
When I was finished I jigged it using a Dremel tool and buffed it up a bit.
