I collect and use the Buck 112 and have since 2007. But I just ordered one of these for $139.00. I have never been a steel snob or chased the latest and greatest new steel since Bucks 420 has always worked well for me but last year I bought a 112 Slim Pro Plus in S35VN and it was the absolute sharpest knife out of the box of any brand I've ever seen AND it stayed sharp for week after week with normal use! Bucks 112 in any super steel are hard to find and since I display them I hesitated to actually use them..even S30V. But that Slim Pro Plus really opened my eyes to the benefits of super steels and when Buck announced there first 'Stealth' run of any kind with the Magnacut 110 I decided to try it. Plus in my one day research on Magnacut steel most folks said it was possibly the best all around knife steel ever made. At less than $150.00 it was also the most reasonably priced knife I found in that steel. Bucks 110 has been around since 1964 and truly is a iconic knife but I know a lot of folks consider it old fashioned and kinda boring compared to the newer flashy models so many companies put out now. But I wanted to let yall know Buck stepped into 2023 with a Magnacut 110..

I nearly ordered the 110, but decided to hold off and cross my fingers hoping for a 112 in magnacut. I’m one of the odd ducks that prefer the Ranger to the Hunter. lol

I also really like the 112 as an everyday knife. I’ve only had one for a couple of years, but it has monopolized my pocket again for the last 3 or 4 months. It’s a custom shop in s30v given to me as a birthday present, so I also have a very special connection with it.

I have never owned, or maybe even held, a 110, but I was fortunate enough to stumble across the magnacut drop the other night, and so I picked one up. I’ve become quite fond of both Cruwear and M4 steels lately, and particularly like their toughness coupled with good edge holding. I have also read many good things about magnacut, which should also combine very good toughness with good edge retention, so I’ll be excited to get this one in hand!

Post some pics when it arrives! I almost ordered one

One is on the way to me as well.

Sounds like a cool mix of hypermodern with old school. Huge fan of the 110s, looking forward to adding magnacut to the 420HC, 5160, and S30V versions already in the collection.

Buck also mentioned that they have improved their sharpening methods and that the new batch shows an improvement on out of the box sharpness, really looking forward to that as their factory edge is already very good.

Haha, nothing like carrying a pouch for the phone, one for the multitool, one for the Buck, and another for the extra magazine :)
Gotta have something to balance the steel frame 1911 on the other hip. :)

*edited to change 1095 to 5160*

I will take this over the Case flipper in Magnacut!
Magnacut is a great steel.

No thanks on the Buck though. I never grew up with one and can't carry a knife without a clip.
Buck 110 LW has one of the best clips on a production knife, not only is it VERY deep carry, it hardly seems like a knife. Significantly lighter than the regular, same steel, thumbstuds and drop point versions as well as clip, still USA made, all coming in under $30 usually... great excuse to try Buck out.

Personally, I don't need a clip unless it is an emergency knife. Still do use 'em. Admittedly do not carry the 110 in a sheath as much, though I would like to try. Was meant for the woods and such, not as an EDC, but people sure still EDC it.

I just cannot buy a 112 yet, do not see a need to sacrifice length. I have a 110, and a 110 LW that I dyed burgundy. I have a Old Timer folding hunter from 90's with chipped tip that I reprofiled with a block of abrasive. Like a sheepsfoot 112 but with a full handle.

Regarding the price, I think the only cheaper magnacut I've seen so far is the Hogue Dekka. I have no experience with the model, but I suspect that a lot of makers just starting to use this steel aren't going to do the ideal heat treat to get it to the 63-64 hrc where it should be. But my guess is Buck will do the heat treat correctly, will be interesting to hear how it behaves!

I'm sure a lot of people like them, but I took a look at the clip and my knife snobbery won't let me carry it.

Buck makes quite a few 110's and 112's with pocket clips with most lighter to carry. I bet we will see a few of the Magancut 110's give up there blade and be put it the Slims and Slim Pro models. Plus of course Customs. If Buck is known for anything it's there heat treatment. So I bet Buck got it right the first time on this steel. I don't know the details about the new edge treatment this will get but again Buck is known for a great edge out of the box. Particularly at there price point.

This is really exciting. I have a soft spot for the 110 as it had been my old man's edc of choice for about 5 decades.

He refuses to retire but has promised to hang it up at 70. I'm thinking that something like this through the custom shop would make for a great 70th birthday/retirement gift in a couple of years.

Of course he will think it's too nice to use and keep jabbing his worn and scratched work knife into all manner of things, but it would be nice to get him a high end steel that can work as hard as he has.

Haha love this, I can’t even keep track of how many knives I’ve given my dad that he just refuses to use because they’re “too nice”. I’ve even gone for some factory seconds hoping that might help him get over that and actually use them, but nope!!
