Hello,
I had some extra time in between a few things and I decided not to waste it, so today I have this Kephart in Magnacut available. The handle is fairly slim and it is perfectly balanced right behind the front of the handle.
The edge is nice and slicey, but being Magnacut it can take some pretty hard use, so don’t be shy!
Don’t get me wrong, all my knives come very sharp, but for some reason this guy took one of the sharpest edges that has ever come out of my shop!

That is darn near a perfect field knife, for my purposes! Just a little thicker stock .220, than I tend to prefer though. Can you elaborate a bit on the heat treating protocol? Thank you in advance, Steve

Thank you all for the kind words!

Is the spine sharp on this beauty?
Yes, but it’s not super crispy sharp, though you could Strike a ferro rod with. And I’m happy to take it to the grinder and get it sharper, it wouldn’t take much to get it nice and crispy.

I assume this is what your after: I austenitized at 2100F for 15 minutes, plate quenched then went right into dry ice (as long as you get it on the dry ice quickly, it has the same effect as liquid nitrogen) then tempered twice for 2 hours at 350F.

Hello,
Been working on this fun little knife in my spare time and I am done!
This little Wharncliffe is in Magnacut, natural vintage linen micarta and copper pins! The spin is on the thick side, but it has a very thin hollow grind that comes down to a wicked thin tip that will be the ultimate tool for opening packages etc!

Very nice little knife. I love the blade shape and the vintage Micarta. Does it come with any sort of sheath? Thanks
Thank you! Unfortunately no, I did not have time to make a sheath, but if you want one I’m sure there are other members here that can make one! Sharp & Fiery Sharp & Fiery does some really nice work! Perhaps he could make one?
