Well, I guess the "bloom is off" if a MagnaCut Mule doesn't immediately sell for $150-155 on the Exchange when they're still selling on EB for $175 & more.

LOL! ;)

See: MagnaCut Mule which remained unsold after 2 hours and finally took about 5 hours to sell.

FWIW, I've decided to keep (and not resell) my 2nd MagnaCut. I really don't have many cutting needs beyond the kitchen but, since I don't have much $ in it, I'm actually going to carry and use it whenever the need arises. I've got a really nice pair of Halpern natural canvas micarta scales to put on it. :)

So, now that the dust has settled a bit, how many of you who bought 2 MagnaCuts are going to keep vs sell the 2nd one?

I bought two and was (I guess really still am) uncertain what I might do with the second one--sell, gift, or keep. At least for now, I am keeping it because it allows me to take more liberties with my user knowing that I have another if needed.

I bought 2 with the intention of keeping one and giving to my best friend after I make a set of scales for both of them.
I have a MagnaCut, S45VN, and LC200N. I don’t see myself getting another unless I can come across an available 10V.

I’d be fine with either choice!
I have either choice, for you!

I'm with ya, on the 10V... (PMA11)
I started looking around, last week, for one.
Thought about putting, Z-wear, Z-MAX, or Magnacut, for trade.

I plan on leaving one in the knife block for general light kitchen duty like slicing fruit, etc. The other I was plan on bringing with me instead of my Catcherman H1 when I'm around water. Just waiting for some Halpern scales to be available.

I’m kind of curious how many people actually only purchased 1. Already have a pair of users in B70P, so I figured one was plenty for me.That’s ultimately what I did, though I was tempted to get two, especially during the frustration of the ordering process.

Given that the list price for 1 was $75 and that you were limited to buying 2 and got free shipping if you bought 2 and given the PITA it was to just get in and to get an order accepted, my guess is that almost everyone (other than you and others) who was able to get in to buy any probably chose to buy 2.

It also made economic sense to buy 2 because (as I speculated before the release) of the likelihood that the 2nd one could be sold for $175 or more, which has been proven to be the case, and would result in getting the 1st one for FREE plus perhaps even a small profit on top of that.

The abundance of MagnaCuts for sale on EB (and elsewhere) is also evidence that (apart from the flippers) most people bought more than they needed or wanted to keep. The median price of the sales on EB has been around $175 with the range as low as $130 to as high as $300.

Sales have slowed since the initial rush but it still makes $$ sense to sell your 2nd if you don't need/want it.

I’m aware of the economics, but not personally interested in flipping stuff. Needed another set of scales and a sheath anyway, so a $4 lapel pin put me over for free shipping. Agree that the vast majority of buyers almost certainly grabbed two, just kind of amusing to speculate how few single orders there were… 10%, 5%, 1%?? Guess we’ll never know.

You could ask Sal by PM.

I only purchased 1

That's interesting.

Based on a rough calculation, assuming that you sold all 2000 MagnaCut Mules and assuming only 1 customer per order, there would have been roughly 856 single vs 572 two knife orders, out of a total of 1428. Not nearly as many 2 knife orders as I expected.

Wow, that’s pretty cool. Thanks for sharing Sal! Glad that they got into so many individuals’ hands directly from the SFO.

I purchased two. One for me to use as a hunting / edc knife and one for the wife to abuse. If anyone can destroy a knife / edge, my wife can. its a challenge to keep the kitchen knives sharp. I figure it’s a good test to see how magnacut holds up In the kitchen. I think the steel shows promise for hunting knives.

I didn't keep up with the sale timeline so I missed out. I'm interested in seeing how the steel performs in folders like the Manix 2, PM2, etc.
