Magnet Fishing

I tried magnet fishing for my Griptilian when I kicked it off my pier. I never found that knife, even with a big speaker magnet.

A stronger magnet seems to be the way to go. I remember searching by "magnet fishing" on Amazon. I got one of the less expensive, less powerful ones a few years ago and it is still ridiculously powerful. When flat against a metal surface, pulling it off directly is extremely difficult. I either have to brace and pull at an angle or slide it to the edge.

I ordered a cheap one last year but still haven't gotten around to using it. You've inspired me to go and try it out.

My friend in the U.K. does this, he has winch attached to the magnet. He made enough from junk to buy a boat but it took 3 years. The boat is pretty old but it does have an inboard and a small cabin that would sleep a couple people below the deck.

Tell your friend to be careful, much of the UK has dangerous magnet fishing.

Not just the UK either.

They actually found a similar item from WW2, they called the metro police, the whole shebang. Usually though they find junk like ruined bikes and other old crap. And knives- a ton of those, none any good but knives are strictly regulated over there so a lot of crooks ditch them into bodies of water. Here's the boat they managed to buy.

Do your research on the magnets and brands.
I was researching these and a lot are junk, magnet reviews say they wont even pick up a screwdriver.
High powered magnets are pretty expensive right now as I have heard that most are made in China where they have access to materials.
