Magnetic Knives?

Odd little thing that came up in discussion...

Anyone else noticed that some of their knives are slightly magnetic?
Enough to pick up a pin or tack for example.

Why is that the case?
 
at some point in its life, the steel in your knife would have been placed in a magnetic field of some sort long enough for the iron to align itself in such a way that it would give off its own.
 
I had a couple of "letter openers" I made that I purposefully magnetized so I could easily pick up dead staples and paper clips off my desk.
 
Before I traded it off, my Para2 was slightly magnetic near the pivot hole in the blade.
