Magnetized knife

Hard to say exactly, but some cutlery is magnetized because if the way it is manufactured. Heated and hammered metal may become magnetized. Or it could have been magnetized due to some jig used for holding the knife during grinding or sharpening, who knows.

Heat and hammer don't make it magnetized. The kives are exposed to amagnetic field during manufacture from jig .

Take it to a machinist shop... Most have a demagnetizer.

Also keep it away from mechanical watches. Jewelers (if they do good watch repair) also commonly have deguassers.

To demag it you can turn on a solering GUN and pass the blade into or out of the feild that forms rotating around the arms and copper rod that makes up the loop that is the working end of the gun.

You may have to insert the knife, turn on the gun and pull the knife out and repeat or turn on the gun and the push the knife in and turn off the gun then pull the knife out and repeat depending on the polatity of the knife.

If that doesnt make sense maybe goolge it.
