Magnifier for fire question

Just a reminder to what everyone already knows, Fire is a three part equation; heat, fuel, and oxygen. The fresnel lens (heat) is only a third of the equation. As Rick eluded to, you gotta put a lot of attention to your tinder (fuel) and how it is arranged (oxygen) as that is two-thirds of the equation.

Using a magnifying lens to make fire is not a gimme. You have to be good at making tinder bundles if you are going to do it with natural materials. There are some natural materials, char cloth, etc., that are easy at getting a coal, but they are likely not be there for you when you really need them.

Here are two videos I recently did, one on Fire with a Fresnel Lens and another on making tinder bundles...

Do a tinder bundle right, good sun, good technique = fire even with a weak (2x) fresnel lens. To increase your odds, I know they make higher magnification lens (5x)...
