Magnus Axelson WiP

This is also the last of the photos that Magnus sent my way. I'm sad that there are no photos of the sheath being made, but as you can imagine, it's typical Axelson genius. It's sewn together with metal wire!

Anyway, I'ma post a few more photos soon, of the knife and sheath here in BC, in the forest. But these last photos show Steel Rider in her homeland of Sweden :)

This is the last fit up before final assembly, (you can tell because of the non filed fasteners).

That's great! Very striking knife. Those little fullers on the tang edge and spine are a cool detail.
BTW although those bolsters aren't bolstering much, they are still bolsters to me...

Top shelf stuff

Would not know where to start counting the details

Fantastic knife

Holy moley (sp?) that turned out great!
It looks so good with all the little accents/touches Let us know how it feels in the hand!!

Lucky Loren! You gonna swing that one? Looks like it'll feel grand in the hand.

Steel Rider and Stormy Weather, together;

A beauty sheath!

sewn together with braided steel wire;

and a nice Damasteel accent, celebrating Magnus' and my passion for mountain biking;

world's coolest lanyard! (totally adjustable)

a couple of photos;

I love me a hand finished edge bevel;

And yes, it works!

The handle fits my hand perfectly, no hotspots or fatigue. I've had the knife out several times and I'm very pleased with its performance. It's a compact, stout knife that packs a punch without taking up much space. The sheath carries very nicely as well.

I'm extremely pleased by how well this project turned out, and so thankful for Magnus and his unique take on custom knife making. I'm really looking forward to the next project, which will be a doozie!

Thank you all for following along, and for making comments and asking questions :)

That is so cool. I screams 'use me'! I'd love to handle it. The sort of knife you'd want to carry all the time.

So many great touches in both the knife and the sheath. Thank you for sharing.

Good lord, I thought that was gonna be the rough one.
Wow.

Lorien,

Fantastic piece, the whole package is outstanding !
Didn't think I'd like it as much without a guard and the original guard looked a little too Klingon for me.
Turns out this looks extremely well thought out and the guardless look works very well.

Magnus is definitely a master of his craft.
Congratulations to the both of you !
Thanks and enjoy, Lorien.

thank you Doug, and you're welcome and thank you to all of you.

This was an outstanding project, with a fantastic end result; knife and otherwise.

I cannot WAIT to show you the next thing, (it'll be awhile so don't hold your breath).

Incredible craftsmanship... "inspirational" is an understatement.

... and what's with the cold fusion reactor? Holy crap... where's the DIY build thread for that baby?

Thanks for the great thread and congratulations on a superb piece, Lorien. Liking that sheath and lanyard a lot, too. Awesome package. :thumbup:

One of the finest looking knives and sheath I've seen. And yes, Lorien will swing that one too.

thanks fellas! I've been sitting on this for quite awhile now and was hoping to make a magazine article out of it, but that didn't look like it was gonna happen.

One thing about this knife which is cool is that the Damasteel really holds up well. Keeps a solid edge and so far seems pretty resistant to scratching, although there ain't much in the forest but rocks which are harder than 59HR.

Lorien, great thread! Very enjoyable watching this knife come together. I really love the design and the materials. Congratulations to you and to Magnus!

Also cool to hear your thoughts and experience with the damasteel. I always wondered how it would hold up to use.:cool:

Just now seeing the finished product and it looks amazing! Congratulations on a great project together Lorien and Magnus. A very impressive result! The spalted guard/bolster area tricks my eye into thinking I'm seeing an engraving of some kind, the way the veins of color are running through it. Handle looks very comfortable, and the damascus looks very artistic for this knife. The two knives together are a sight to behold.
