YesIsnt S35vn already a powdered steel...
good, Was just checking my facts before watching any marketing wank.
It's utilized in the firearms world quite a bit too. Many folks were aghast to find...MIM's (MEMS) is nothing new either.
We utilize for some parts we do, Not in house but sub contracted.
Id be worried about voids in the material, unless HIP is being done post MIM.Just making a WAG, but I'd think their steel might be S35vn with additives or changes to make it work for the MIM process.
A lot of people don't like the MIM gun parts but, like here on these forums, they are often parroting someone else's opinion. (I understand the issues raised.)Lots of folks don't like MIM gun parts since there are more prone to failure.
Seems like a uphill battle to try to tell people they should buy a knife made with MIM.
We don't have all the information yet but looking at this at face value, this appears to be a step backwards in knife performance, not a step forward in knife performance.
We'll see what the market says when it comes out.
I hope they would be doing all that is necessary to create a durable blade, but I guess we will find out after SHOT Show. I won't be first in line for one.Id be worried about voids in the material, unless HIP is being done post MIM.
Well, I will say, they do make some useful gear, despite the underwear models. Its Magpul... the Gravy Seals will be all over it.
MIM's (MEMS) is nothing new either.
We utilize for some parts we do, Not in house but sub contracted.
Not even new in the knife world.
Kershaw tried their hand with MIM with the 1597 Offset
