Hi every one, well it finally arrived. I got this tomahawk from a fellow forum member. It’s a tomahawk modeled after the one carried by Magua, from the last of the Mohicans movie. I first saw that movie when I was a teen, that tomahawk has been mi obsession ever since. It’s a very good quality reproduction made by a very good blade smith named Stephen Osborne from North River Forge.
Here are the specs.
Dimensions: Head overall 7 3/4" - Cutting edge 3" wide.
Steel: 1018 steel head with a high carbon 1095 steel cutting edge.
Haft/Handle: Hard maple, hand turned. 24 1/2" long
Finish: Aged finish.
Special Features: Leather sheath/blade guard.
This spike tomahawk is stamped with my makers mark "NR"
I took these pictures from the site.

I’m really happy whit it. Magua would be proud.

I have a hawk from Stephen too. He does nice work including that one.

iirc Winkler made the original for the movie.

That's a nice one but I thought the one from the movie was just a flat piece of steel. No eye.

The one Dan Winkler made for the movie has an eye but was made over sized I believe
(for the larger than life effect))).

Very nice hawk. Congrats

Beautiful hawk! I've been obsessed with that movie since it first came out. It still brings a tear to my eye seeing them dunk those longrifles in the river... :(

Cool:cool:. I’m trying to get in contact whit Steven, I’m looking to get the matching long knife made. No luck getting a hold of him.

Your right, I think Winkler said the director wanted more "Stage Presence" so there were made with longer hafts, etc..

Speaking of stage presence... that actor, Wes Studi, the man = bad-ass. Last of the Mohicans, Dances with Wolves, New World and more.

Stephen is a member around here. Maybe he'll notice this thread and chime in.

This knife was done by another maker, and it’s the closest thing to what I what made that I could fiend on the net, the sheath shown in the pictured is not tom I liking, the leather blade cover the North River maker made for the hawk is more of what I’m looking for. Simple.

thanks again crossada
