Hy guys, this is probably the wrong forum, but hey? John wants to know after he's done, how does he mail his knive(s) home from Iraq? If he already posted this sorry.

Put them in a box, and write the address that he wants it sent to on the outside.

:D

(Just do not write "Knives" on the outside of the box.)

Depends on blade length. 6" and under blade can go regular mail , 7" or more has to go registered mail, or if I remember correctly you can put them in checked baggage.

If it was only that easy, all outgoing packages from theatres get checked by customs. If not I would have some really cool items in posession;)

I think that writing "Tools" on the package would only open it up for extra examination.

Too many fears that soldiers are mailing weaponry or stolen equipment home to themselves.

If the knife(s) is useful, your friend John, should really consider giving or selling it to someone still stationed in-country.

Hey Helen thanks for posting this. What I have is 4 Case Peanuts, & 1 Buck 303. I tried e-mailing the USPS but didn't get a response yet.

It was no issue for us except for Ak bayonets which were considered "war tropies".

Took my stuff to the PO, filled out the forms and mailed them. Little hassle or issue. Also, shipped old 1917 bayonets home that way except they had to go registered, bit more hassle but not a show stopper.

Or, you can put them in your ruc and check the ruc, again, no issue.

No problem. Carl wants to know if he can send ME to Iraq (along with all of my Moras).
