Does anyone have any experience with mailing knives to active duty military at an APO address?

What I have been able to come up with from the Post Office is that you can not send privately own weapons, but weapon is not defined.

Thanks for any input,
Ken

I can tell you as a military member that I have had many knives shipped to me. Most people label it as a cutting tool or camping tool or something. It really depends on where you are located and if that country allows knives. I am currently deployed and have had two knives come to me here. I live in Japan and have had somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 knives sent there with no issues. Just be sure to do a customs declaration or it may come back to you. Hope this helps.

That's what I did, just listed it as tools when they were outbound to deployed soldiers. Never had a problem.

Yep, I've shipped blades to APOs plenty of times. No issue, and the cost is the same as shipping in the USA. I use the flat rate priority boxes.

I had over 30 knives delivered while in Iraq, no problem. He should have it in 7-10 days.

Thanks everyone for the input. I got my local Post Office to give me the OK to mail the knife.

Ken
