...make a clean deer kill at 950 yards - Nice!

Wow!!! The guy that tought me to shoot was a sniper. I saw him make some impressive shots but that was something else.
Thanks for posting this, Brian!

I did that last weekend......... With a bow........ And it was a chipmunk.

I really can't even imagine a shot like that, the variables that are in play are amazing, thats alot of skill.

They NEVER NEVER show the shots that miss the mark just enough to leave a wounded animal to crawl off and die. Hope he doesn't call himself a hunter. Gives us a bad name.

He might have been sure of his shot, but I fear the idiots who think they can do the same. Amen to udtjim's post. I hunt but shots like that should never be taken.

The person who sent this to me is a brother Marine to the guys in the video, and good friends with them. He says this was one-shot, one-kill, and FWIW, he's no BSer, and, he says, neither are his friends.

This shot was taken by a veteran who has taken the same and more difficult shots in wartime - very recently - and is an expert.

However, I agree, I hope some yahoo's with a wannabe sniper complex do not attempt same.

BTW, I posted this purely because, well, that was some hellaciously good shooting!

Edit: I emailed my pal to get more details of when, where, how, why, etc., but this is also posted on youtube by several people. hang tight while I get more details.

Nice shot:cool:

I do dislike taking these kind of shots while hunting though..:( Don't really see the need for it. There are plenty of competitions to showcase these skills.

I do shoot long distance during training and competition, but aim to get as close as possible while hunting. When in the army we did practice long range shooting, but need for humane killing wasn't really emphasized at that time;)

I believe it brian, my cousin is a special forces sniper. He is an expert, and does not BS.

Praise for the skill in this shot but.........................I hope no one thinks this is sportsman like conduct in the field. Please leave such shots to the pros. Worldwide the group of guys that could make such a shot EVERY TIME is so small even I could afford to buy them a round of beers.
Most hunters have no business taking an off hand shot at a game animal that is much over 100 yards much less 900. My mentor taught me that you had to be able to hit a paper plate every time at the distance I planned to hunt and under the same conditions. Try that test sitting up in a stand unsupported, or walking and suddenly seeing game in the distance.

I think everyone understands the caveats at this point. :D

This is not your average hunter or shot. Enjoy the video for what it is: an amazing shot.

But folks, don't try this at home...
