Make a hawk this w/e

Swede, I work on broken knives and stock removal with a file and elbow grease... I know of some of the stuff you speak about, but dont know my butt from a hole in the ground when it comes to it.

Bill,
I apilogise. I have never kept a good file system when it comes to the pics I download to gawk at. I dont know who most of them are from, when they were made, or who they went to. All I know is that the pair I posted are my favorites.

Here are some more... yet again I dont know who they belong to.

(Forgot the pic...:o )

Swede, by all accounts, Bruce Evans' Tomahawk Video is the ideal place to learn how to do this. I don't think he will have left anything out. but if you still have questions just write or call him - he's one of the most helpful humans that ever lived. He personifies the knifemaker's ideal of helping others get going. But so does everyong here. You'll see... :D Unfortunately I'm wholly a stock removal type, so cannot offer any assistance on this one.

Good luck and be sure to share your results.

Dave

swede,

look in the post w/e hawk project. The tool sitting in the hardie hole is a drift. This one is cast steel and is basically just a long taper that has an outer shape of a tomahawk haft. You can order one from Kayne and Son.

Swede, a lot of us started making hawks by cheating a little. My first few were made from cheap ball peen hammers. This way I already had the hole. After a few you can make one from scratch.

Dave , no need to apologize, with all the Bruce's, Bob's and Bill's on here I too get confused. :D Thank you for the nice compliment.

Swede, I bought my drift from here, www.radehawkinscustomknives.com
Rade also carrys handles too. Good luck, hawks can be pretty tough some days and others a piece of cake.

Bill
