Make an Omega style wrist cuffs. (WIP)

I'm thankful that you see something nice in the product, coming from you, it means a lot, but I'm in no condition to try to build the brand in that way.

I'm just happy to pass along a little design fun that has no real proprietary features. By making this thread I welcome anyone and everyone to try their hand at it. If someone made a few bucks from it that would please me greatly. :)

well i didn't know where to put it as i don't think it warrants an own thread and since it was inspired by this tutorial i thought i'd post it here.
it is my very first tooled item as well as 2 colored.

A couple of things to improve:
- it is too big... somehow i messed up the transfer of the size from a well fitting bracelet
- the green colour seeped out under the masking tape i was using
- the mahagony colourm came out uneven
- i need to improve on the tooling, didn't work out quite right
- the holes for the studs seem to have shrunk due to the dyeing

i am however rather satisfied with how the green came out, the edges and the coating of the inside with edge coat. :)

Dude! That's excellent! I don't particularly see the errors you point out, but I'm looking on my phone. The dye looks great, but I really dig the stamping. That stamp is hard to do without getting a little off track. Also, the impressions are better than my tool produces. Where did you get if you don't mind sharing? It does look a bit wide. I think 1.5" is the max I'd go, but that's down to preference. Your stitching is far enough in that you could cut off a little from each side if you wanted, but I'd leave it personally.

How do you like two studs? That's another reason why I use a max width of 1.5", it definitely looks cool on your cuff.

I'm super happy that someone made one, I really appreciate you posting your pics.

I love to block dye that particular stamp. I think it really looks awesome, but yours looks great as it stands.

Again, great job bud. ;)

thank you very much for your kind words!
i was aware that this is one of the harder stamps to get right over an area, but well, i dig it.
actually the reason to get the stamp and the green dye was the block dyed sheath in green/black on your website. :)
the size is something like 1.9-2" (5 cm), the stitching is 1cm in from each side an purely cosmetical. i actually did consider broadening the inner area.
so far i don't really like the double stud arrangement. don't know why... i have another one with two studs (because it was too wide) where the studs are behind each other (i will try to post pics later) which i like much better, but generally i prefer one.
i've done 3 more bracelets where i use a 5cm wide strap as base and cover it with a 3cm (1.2") strap.

as for the tool, it is sold as made by Craft Japan over here in Germany, i couldn't track it down, but it might be Craft Sha or Seiwa made.

However it seems like you can find it on ebay under craft japan:
ebay link removed...
(and no, i o don't know the seller, it was just one of the first hits to pop up in google)

I had heard some good things about these tools and how they were a step up from the starting tools, so i got them.

Ah yes, I have a couple of tools that I bought from craft Japan, they are of excellent quality. I have considered buying some of the available stamps because they are reasonably priced and because there are some unique designs. I believe you've made up my mind. :)

(I'd remove the eBay link. Links to active auctions are a no-no)

Yeah, one stud is plenty for me. It can be difficult to remove the cuff with one hand.

I made the end kind of long on this one.

Compared to the short "tab" on this one.

The longer strap on the first one makes pulling it off much easier, but if you pull from the side it's still fairly easy.

I like that you went to the trouble of the decorative stitching. It looks great.

ups, i guess i should've read the forum rules more carefully. link removed... thanks.
i like the short end on your cuffs better, but i like the artwork on the longer one you posted. very cool.
as always, you make great stuff.

i'll try to improve on my stitching once i get a decent awl to make some real saddle stitching, so far i only have a round awl... but i'm on a budget from the misses ;)
