make have a heart racoon trap to trip with electric beam?

Thats a really neat trap. I used to work in technical support for The Chamberlain Group. They used similar photo eyes as safety features on garage door openers, gates and other access controls. Occasionally I would talk to people who were wanting to use these eyes for their own projects.
It's pretty cool to actually see how you used the eyes to build a trap, great job:thumbup:.

If you don't market these cages I might want to jump on it. Photo eyes and solenoids are pretty cheap. Could be a real money maker.

I love the thrill of making something no one else has. Plus, I have a MAJOR infestation, it needs to work every night without fail. Turns out a guy not 1 mile as the crow flies from me feeds the raccoons 40lbs of dog feed every week, he raises them cause they are cute .

Sounds to me like you need a man trap.

Now that is an idea, I will set it in the dog food aisle at Winn-Dixie where he shops. I even know what day he goes.:D

Just put a Twinkie on the top shelf so he has to step up to reach it.

Update to old thread, I am now over 100 coons and numerous opossums. Coons recently have been found in this city with rabies. The trap is still inescapable. Thanks to all again that helped.

Just goes to show: don't mess with older folks. They didn't get that way by being dumb. And I'm sure it must feel awfully good to have come up with your own solution. And of course to have the friends willing to throw in their knowledge too.

I wonder if there is something you could spray around the perimeter of your yard or the feeder's yard that would repel them without having to trap and remove?

Don't know about other options, but we now have coyotes loose in the neighborhood. You would think we would not have all these varmits in an area containing over 100,000 folks. Got any suggestions for the coyote?
