Your a gold dubloon... there beat you to it.

Now.
I am in the process of making a knife for a customer and he supplied the handle material. A really nice piece of round sambar stag with a very good carving of a pirate on it. WHat I want to do is make a big bowie blade and then use a gold dubloon for the guard and butt plate. Problem is I am not a metal pounder and have no idea how to go about making something that would be recognizable as a gold dubloon, piece of eight or other stereotypical pirate coin. Obviously I am not looking for a really gold dubloon but rather something that looks like one. Is there anyone out there willing to make such a thing. It needs to be 2 3/4 inches top to bottom, 3/4 inch wide and 1/4 inch thick for the front guard and approx. 1 1/4 round for the butt cap.
I am thinking something that looks like gold but if you have other ideas please chime in. This is not a freebie.
Thanks
Steve

Got a picture of what one looks like? I pound all kinds of metal, and would be definately interested.

Silver replicas of 8 escudo pieces (pieces of eight) are readily available on the INTERNET and ebay for not much. I used to cast them in silver and gold, but those molds are long gone. I cast replicas of some of the atocha coins in the beginning of the salvage. The silver replicas can be gold plated, or cast in manganese bronze ( gold stimulant).
