Anyone recognize the maker of this one? The knife has several unusual attributes. The grind was very nicely done and the spine displays intricate and unusual milling and filework. And...what is the handle? gator, turtle shell??

The knife was attributed to Markley Lahrman, but I don't think that's correct. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have found that the handle is the back plate from a gator. Since, the maker seems to remain a mystery, anyone have any thoughts on what the butt was designed for? It was ground in sort of a crescent chisel and has an unusual step. A gator hunting acquaintance suggested it may have been designed for a gator hunter, but didn't know why the butt was so designed.
