Maker's Mark -- anyone else come back to it?

I would like to try the Buffalo Trace but it is impossible to find in SE Arizona. Is this the off shoot of the former Ancient Age brand??

I have a buddy who is a born and raised Kentuckian and says Ridgemont Reserve 1792 is his brand of choice.

I turn 34 this week. The guys bought be a bottle of AH Hirsch Reserve 16 for as a gift.
I had never heard of it nor have I had it. Apparently its no longer being made. I will post a review... I suspect it was pretty pricey.

Was at my local store last week and bought a bottle of Elijah Craig 12 yo for $25.95. Very smooth by the way. Saw a bottle of 18 yo next to it for $54.95. Is the additional 6 years worth the price differential?

Thanks

Not quite. but that doesn't make it bad stuff.

In my opinion it is worth the difference. I poured glasses of the Evan Williams 5 yr, Elijah 12 yr and the 18 yr. I actually preferred the taste of the 5 year to the 12. In fact I won't ever even consider buying the 12 again. Its amazing to me how different the three taste. At the end of the day though it simply comes down to personal taste. If you like the 12 yr good for you, you can buy twice as much as us 18yr drinkers! I would say that you should give the 18 a try though, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
