I have been using Ernie's stencils and saltwater. I was getting halos, stencils were lasting 10 marks at best if I ran 12 volts and maybe 3 if I ran 24 volts. Last time I made an order for some stuff from USA Knife Makers, I decided to try some "store bought" etchant and ordered some Electrolyte 110A for $10. Man what an improvement. Marks come out much nicer in every respect, crystal clear with no halos and the stencil still looks perfect after 10 etches and most of them with the power set on 24v. Way way better. No more salt water for me and there is enough in the bottle to last a long time. Just flip open the roll out tip and dampen my felt contact pad.

^^^ +1 ^^^

It makes such a difference that I started adding it to the etchers that I sell. I don't quite understand a 16oz. bottle though, that's about 25 years supply for most makers if you don't waste it. I tested mine and I etched over 50 etches with 10ml.
