Makers, Purveyors, Please Read

To clarify,
There was never a statment that makers should not post their work in here. The point was to do it with a little tact. Posting a picture and asking what do you think does not go across as well as posting a pic and getting into the knife with some discussion. Having several threads by the same maker on the front page does not come across well either. Constantly bringing a thread back to the top with inane comments tends to create problems too.

Doing something different? We would love to see it. Want to sell it, post it in the for sale area. Want to post a pic and offer no technical info the Gallery is the place to be.

I will be away this week for a good part of the time, but if you have any concerns email me (without dramatics and foul words) and we can work this out.

The pettiness is something we can all do without. Richard and George all you have to do is email me. I have never had a problem with your posts here and there is no reason for you to feel that you are un-welcome. If there is a problem or a percieved problem we can work it out. All this level playing field stuff does not hold water. I have never heard from you Richard except when you complain in here. All you have to do is email me if you think you have been wronged or if you feel neglected. If either of you would like to email me with specific requests or complaints, we can work things out or you can continue to steam over a problem I am not aware of - your choice.

The general griping without specifics does not get much of a reaction from me anymore. I do not have the time do deal with it and I no longer loose sleep over it.

The thought that Blues and I are against makers or certain makers is silly and deserves no comment other than what has already been stated.

That's why I post pics of my designs only when the knives are sold out.

If I have one knife available, I wait 'til is sold and then post the pic.

I really like the Custom Knife Forum with Custom Knives pics...

but again, If this is a problem, I will stop and post on the galleria section:D

regards,

I must applogize for posting in the wrong area. The time I spend on the Forum is sometimes spotty and I forgot about the Gallery / Custom separation. I try to post only new ideas or something that is already sold.

Sorry if I got crossed up, I wasn't trying to cause a problem or be a pain.

You guys do great job of running this forum by the way!

I'd like to add my apologies. Posting at the Gallery is no problem. Gus and Blues- you guys do a heck of a job here and it sure wasn't my intention to make things any more difficult. Thanks. Folks should be encouraged to visit the Gallery more often, there is always some very cool stuff there!!

It seems that the problem can be solved by purchasing a knifemaker membership.

Is the correct address the 1SKS address on Mining Terrace? If so the cheque will be in the mail tomorrow morning.

I dont very often post pictures in this forum, but when I do I compose the post, send it as an e-mail to Gus and Blues to see if it fits the guidelines. I have always gotten a fast and courteous reply. Only after I get the OK from one of them do I start a thread. Seems pretty simple really. I never try to sell a knife or solicit in this foum.

Blues and Gus, keep up the good work! :)

Where is the gallery? I got used to just going in one direction and I have missed it. I should look around a little every once in a while. :)

Moderators, I do think you are doing a very good job and can convey your information with tactfullness. There are many ways to present an opinion and I like the way you men do it. Thank you.

Ray- just scroll down a little!! The gallery is the forum called "The Gallery" (sorry, just had to say that).;) The Gallery is open to anyone that wants to share a pic. or info. It is getting more traffic all the time, but should have more. There is some VERY COOL STUFF! to be seen!!!!:D And it NEEDS pictures of your work.:)

I too wish to offer my apologies for my recent post of my new knife. I should have known better having read all the past month's posts addressing this issue. But, I haven't been to the Custom Forum very much just recently and in my enthusiasm to garner some more comments from a non maker audience, I forgot about the sales rules and innocently posted pics of my new design. Blues promptly moved them to the Gallery.

I want to emphasize that I haven't sold any of work yet to anybody. Although I am calling myself a knifemaker, I am a very new maker so perhaps my moniker is a bit premature. At any rate, I think Gus and Blues do a very good job here and their levelheaded and fair approach is much appreciated. In future, I will take Rob's excellent advice and email my proposed post of my work to one of the moderators and get their approval of the wording.

One thing though...the Gallery Forum is buried at the bottom of the listings. Shouldn't it deserve a higher profile placement. Maybe I would remember to look at it more if I could just see it!:) Richard is correct, there are always great pictures there.

Thanks to Spark for keeping this whole wonderful site going. As for those who haven't paid for a membership, what are you waiting for? The site to go out of business?

Peter,

Thanks for your understanding.

There is no need for anyone to have their posts pre-approved by Gus or myself. That would be much too unwieldy and impractical and is certainly not the atmosphere we are trying to promote.

Let's just try to keep it simple. Posts should be non-commercial in nature.

As I stated at the outset, if it's just to post pix of your work or to solicit comments pro/con on your work, please use the Gallery.

Gus and I will take appropriate action where necessary (without malice) to direct threads where they belong.

And finally, thanks to all for sharing their thoughts.
