Makers taking shots at other makers on "media"....

Im just a plain old head of the holler hillbilly. I have an impressive resume to prove it. ;)

You guys forgot swamp cricker. They are indigenous to northwestern Montana, north of Whitefish Lake.

I have 2 facebook accounts, one personal and a business one that my wife set up for me that ive been to twice. I get on facebook about once every couple of months or so. I don't know how many facebook friends I have, but I think that friend on facebook doesn't neccecarily mean what friend means to me in the real world. I have seen what you are talking about and don't care for it at all. I do like how facebook sends me emails about folks birthdays though, and as soon as I see the email from them, I usually call or send a happy birthday text, just seems more personal to me than to send happy birthday wishes on facebook.

now I do have a youtube account and absolutely love youtube. I think I have around 90 videos on my account, and usually add a couple every month. mostly about knives, or other projects in the shop. I think of it as my way of paying the knifemakers that have helped me out back. as well as the rest of youtube. like the other day I learned how to make a really nice waste oil scrapper that runs on waste motor oil, and will melt an aluminum car or truck wheel in 3-5 minutes. I learned how to cast aluminum through iron from youtube recently also. so like when I built a walk in meat cooler in half of my shed with a couple old window ac units and regfrigerator thermostats, I made a video on it so the next guy can see how I built mine and it may make it easier for him to build one.

now I suppose that my youtube videos count as a form of advertising. but mostly I do them for the reasons above. plus they are also a great way to document knife tests, and go great with my log book, helping me remember what I did and what worked and what didn't. I have had folks ask me to review other makers knives, but id rather not get into that with the rare occasion of when I get a knife that I just have to talk about and have good things to say. now I don't think my videos are all that great, I'm not an actor, know nothing about photography or shooting videos, and certainly don't know everything there is to know about knives, but they are what they are, and are honest, as I don't know how to edit them. I do think that they are getting at least a little better the more practice I get though :}
