Makers, whats your policy on refunds?

Just a note from the moderator - You do not have the membership status to discuss selling knives and customers. I am going to leave this discussion going, but refrain from posting about or mentioning sales and customers in the future.

The advice from everyone is good. Because this topic is relevant for other makers to read and make comments about, I am leaving it open.

I’m the OP. I’m not understanding your issue with my post. My question was regarding other maker’s policy on guarantees. I’m having trouble understanding why I couldn’t discuss this.

Your first sentence is what violated the policy - "Approaching 3750 knives made and have never had this happen to me fortunately, until now. A Guy ordered a knife of my design with several modifications."

You have been around Bladeforums for 17 years, so you have to have seen this mentioned before.

If the statement about selling knives and your number of customers was left out and you simple asked what makers did about refunds, the thread would have met the rules. Edit that out and I have no problem with the question.

Honestly, that's too bad. :(

I don't know. I'm very new here, but to let anyone and everyone start selling/trading knives without some kind of entry fee would dilute the quality. I've seen it happen on other forums.

To pay $75 for an an annual "knifemaker" membership and reach the number of people you can here seems like a no brainer to me. I realize this is a niche market, but $75 for that kind of exposure? I'm pretty sure no one would want me selling knives here, LOL. Not yet, at least. ;)

That is not what was happening.

Exactly. I’ve never sold a knife here. That’s not my intent at all. My business is elsewhere. I only come here to hopefully get answers to a question that pops up every now and then as it relates to knifemaking, as I explained earlier.

Had no idea that I had to pay a membership fee to state anything regarding customers or numbers. Now I’m enlightened. I’ll phrase my questions more directly if I have anything to discuss in the future.

Adam pretty much summed it up. I dont interpret what the OP said in his original comment as him trying to sell anything. And its unfortunate for the rest of us still here to loose that knowledge because of loose interpretation. I'm not a mod so I'll just leave it at that.

I understand. And I'm sure the powers that be have their reasons and considered the rules they ask us to follow very carefully, before imposing them. We are in their pond. We have to follow their rules.
