Making a Fire Torch...need some of your input

OK - I am making a fire torch and I think that I have foudn a GREAT platform on which to start it. I have taken an old (aka unused) 2 cell AAA mag light and taken the light out, the batteries out and the coil at the end where the batteries touch the tail. I plan on saw off the end (business end of the light) at about 3/8 to 1/2". THEN I have a perfectly shaped, right length and tight spec tube. My clip fits on it to carry with and now all I need is a good piece of metal, wood, brass, aluminum, etc to act as the plunger. I know the diameter of the AAA batteries that fit in the flashlight, so now I need to get the plunger tube.

This is where I need your advice/insight on what would work and where to find it.

if you know the diameter look up Mcmaster-Carr on the internet. Bet they will have somewthing
