Making a folding knife with little tools?

Thanks. Would the rod be acceptable for use as pins also? And just checking, it can be cut with a hacksaw, correct? Sorry for all the questions... :P
 
There was also a book about Ben Kelly and in the back of it was a story about the guys who made his folders completely with file.
