I really like Vic Farmer's as all-round camping and hiking pocketknives. The blade/saw/awl/screwdriver combo is about as useful as it gets for me. However, there was one item I always wanted to have on my Farmer...a pair of Victorinox scissors. Well, I found a guy, through the forum over at SOSAK who will do just that...add scissors to a Vic Farmer! So I'm going to have him do that, and wind up with what, for me, will be the perfect utility pocketknife to carry along on the trail to accompany my olive green micarta-handled Fallkniven F1!

Cool I have seen those mods. Seems like they can add and take away most SAK parts and customize them in many ways.

It's a little extra weight but I need the scissors and Magnifying glass so no matter what else I am carrying, the SAK Explorer is on my belt.

raindog,

Scibeer is charging me $55 total...and that includes the Vic Farmer, the parts, the labor and the shipping. All in all, that's not bad to get the SAK I've always wanted! And you're right, his work is excellent in quality!

Yep, Scibeer's mods can be pricey, but extremely well-done, and worth every penny.

I have the Farmer with scissors mod by Scibeer, and was surprised at how reasonable the price was. I now have the perfect SAK for me, and the total for the knife and mod is half the price of my Benchmade. Maybe some of Scibeer's mods can be pricey, but for this particular mod, it's certainly worth the modest cost.

That's pretty good, since I recall one that sold on Felinevet's site for $75. But it was blue alox, maybe that accounted for the cost. You're right, $55 is pretty reasonable for what you're getting. I'll have to try one out one of these days. In the meantime, I'll hang in there with my Outrider. Same tools, bigger package.

Talk about GREAT service! Bill emailed me letting me know he finished my Farmer Mod yesterday , and that it was ready to ship to me! Of course, I sent him payment via PayPal immediately! This entire transaction took a little over 2 days...start to finish! You can't ask for anything better than that! Thanks again, Bill, for getting this done for me! I will now have the SAK I've always wanted.

lol shhhhhh it's 3 am and I lost count of how many beers. Besides, reading comprehension is for squares. :D

LOL! SCIB-E-E-R does excellent work, and he's a darn nice guy too, looking forward to your pictures to make us drool!

When I get home from this rotation over here, I'll take some pics of it and post them.

Hope you like it Ron.

The Red and Blue Farmers are available cheap now so the cost of these things is pretty good right now. They were double the cost a while back and so more expensive.

SAK mods can get really expensive if someone want tools from several knives. I can't get parts fom Victorinox so I have to buy new knives which gets crazy fast if a couple of them are of the $50+ variety.

I do some mods on the side, but I like doing them through Felinevet when possible to help the non profit out. I'll try to keep him stocked with alox models with scissors if anyone is looking.
