hi i'm new too, i would say you have to hot forge it until the "blade" is flat and then use a bench grinder to shape and sharpen it, hope that helps .

by the way, the flat of the rr spike is a great pommel so I would keep it

I was thinking to use a cheap charcoal forge modified with maybe a bellows for a forge. What do you think about that idea?

I think you need to sit down and read for two years until you are old enough to join this forum.

Do your parents know that you are posting here?

Making knives is exciting and fun, but it is not for an 11 year old without a parent/guardian to work with them. Serious accidents can happen to adult makers who take shortcuts. Youngsters who often rush into things ,or use tools improperly, are much more liable to injury without supervision.

I have taught several youths to make knives (my grandson was 12) and with some pre-learning, they did pretty good. The key was the willingness to sit down and read the books before going out and making a knife. The ones who did the studies went on to make a knife. The ones who didn't have the patience to study and read, didn't .

The adult world has all sorts of rules that seem to be designed to ruin fun for young people.
There is a law that says you have to go to school until a certain age.
There is an age that you have to be before you can drive....and things you have to read and be tested on before you can drive.
There is an age that you can drink alcohol. ( I feel there should be a test and reading on this one ,too. Too many stupid people drink)
There is an age that you can get a job.
There is an age that you can join this forum. That age is 13.

Stop posting, start reading. If you continue to post without taking advice of others you will be considered a troll, even if you are not one. You'll probably also get banned since you're under age.
